Asking Sentences Worksheets | Who, What, Where, When, How and Why Questions | 1st Grade Grammar
Ribbit — ESL/EFL Worksheet Resource
These 10 asking-sentence worksheets give 1st graders 50 lower-case questions built on who, what, where, when, how and why, to rewrite with a capital letter and a question mark. Every page opens with the same reminder box: a question is an asking sentence, it starts with a capital letter and ends with a question mark, and it often starts with Who, What, Where, When, How or Why. Three examples follow: "What is our name?", "When is lunch?" and "How do you draw a bus?" Each page then has five everyday questions to rewrite, such as "how is the weather today", "who is your teacher" and "when do you eat breakfast", plus a box to write a question of their own. Because the questions are ones children really ask and answer, the pages work well as a speaking warm-up: partners read a question aloud and answer it before writing. One sentence on page 7 ("when does the movie start?") already shows its question mark, so tell children to rewrite it anyway.
