Ribbit — ESL/EFL Worksheet Resource

This 10-page set gives 1st graders 60 short sentences written entirely in lower case, such as "mel has a cousin in france.", to rewrite with capitals on every proper noun and at the start of the sentence. Each sentence also has a small box for a picture. The proper nouns are the kind children meet every day: names (julia, oliver, aunt sara, mr. lee), places (tokyo, japan, central park, mount fuji, new york city), months and days (july, december, tuesday), book and film titles (harry potter, frozen, the lion king) and shop or company names. Some sentences start with i, which reminds children that the pronoun I is always capitalised. With six sentences and six drawing boxes on every page, children have to show they understand each sentence as well as fix it, which helps ESL learners who copy without reading. What's Included: • 10 printable worksheet pages • 60 lower-case sentences to correct • A drawing box for every sentence Skills Practised: • Capitalising proper nouns and sentence starts • Capitalising the pronoun I • Editing and rewriting sentences Perfect for: • Daily sentence editing practice • 1st grade capitalisation review • ESL writers who drop capitals
