About this pack
This 12-page set of possessive pronoun worksheets for Grade 1 and ESL/EFL students practices both kinds of possessive: the words that come before a noun (my, your, his, her, its, our, their) and the ones that stand on their own after the verb (mine, yours, his, hers, ours, theirs).
The pack is split into two halves of six pages. Page 1 explains that a possessive pronoun tells us that something belongs to someone, with two worked examples ("I found Jude's sock." becomes "I found his sock."; "This is Mark and Sara's house." becomes "This is their house."), six sentences where students circle the possessive pronoun, and a box to write a sentence of their own. Pages 2–6 each give six sentences that repeat a name, such as "Noah forgot Noah's water bottle again." or "Tom and Ben are cleaning Tom and Ben's room.", and students rewrite each one with the right pronoun.
Page 7 starts the second half with the rule that some possessive pronouns come after the verb ("The toy is Louis'." becomes "The toy is his."), six more circle-the-pronoun sentences and another write-your-own box. Pages 8–12 each have six sentences like "Those pens are Sarah's." or "Is this book the students'?" to rewrite as "Those pens are hers." That adds up to 60 rewriting sentences and 12 circling items, with singular names, pairs of names, plural nouns such as the children's and the teachers', and questions mixed in. Every sentence has two writing lines. There is no answer key.
