About this pack
This 10-page set of telling time to the hour word problems for 1st grade and ESL/EFL students has 80 short story problems, 8 per page, where students read about a child's day and show the o'clock time on a clock.
Each problem is one or two simple sentences about an everyday activity, followed by the same instruction: "Write the time on the clock." Examples include "Jude has piano lessons at six o'clock.", "Ava plays soccer at five o'clock." and "Lucas builds a LEGO castle at three o'clock." On every page, four problems give a blank analog clock face for students to draw the hour and minute hands, and the other four give an empty digital box for students to write the time, such as 6:00. The times are always written in words, so students also practice reading the number words one to twelve.
The activities cover school, meals, sports, music lessons, pets, family visits and weekend trips, which gives ESL/EFL learners useful daily-routine vocabulary alongside the math. Every page has the same layout, so students can work on their own after the first page. There is no answer key. It pairs with the Telling Time to the Hour Worksheets set, which practices the same o'clock times with clock-to-clock problems.
