Sight Word Sentence Scrambles | Dolch Pre-Primer & Primer Worksheets | Kindergarten-1st Grade
Ribbit — ESL/EFL Worksheet Resource
This 19-page sight word sentence scramble pack for Kindergarten, 1st grade and ESL/EFL students uses all 92 Dolch Pre-Primer and Primer words across 10 sets of jumbled sentences. Each set is one page of 5 sentences, 5 to 9 words long. Students read the word tiles, put them in order and write the sentence on two lines. A sight word list at the top shows which words the page targets, and a "Remember!" box shows a worked example: start with the capital letter, and the word with the period or question mark goes last. Sets 1–4 use the 40 Pre-Primer words, Sets 5–8 use the 52 Primer words, and Sets 9–10 review both lists. Questions starting with Can, Is, Did and Where are mixed in, so the pages practise more than statements. Three Check-Up pages close the pack. Check-Ups 1 and 2 each have 3 scrambles plus 3 "Fix it!" sentences that need a capital letter and end punctuation. Check-Up 3 has 6 sentences to read and draw, such as "The dog is under the table." The teacher notes page explains why word order is hard for many ESL learners (Japanese and Korean put the verb at the end) and suggests cutting the tiles apart for children not yet ready to write a full sentence. It lists CCSS RF.K.3c, RF.1.3g, L.K.2a, L.1.2a, L.K.2b, L.1.2b and L.1.1j. Two word bank pages list the Pre-Primer (40) and Primer (52) words as checklists with short "Now you try" sentence frames, and an answer key covers every set and check-up.
