Sight Words Book 1 is a 50-page workbook that teaches ten sight words, to, can, we, the, at, am, it, up, no and yes, with a four-page routine for each word. Each word starts with a practice page. Children colour the word three times, circle it among similar words, underline it in a sentence ("I am four years old."), rewrite the sentence with the sight word in colour, and cut out letters to build the word. A blank backing page follows for cutting. Then a Simple Sentences page has five traceable sentences to read, colouring a star each time, and a Find the Sightword page has a word search and a sentence that grows word by word ("No, I do not like it."). Two Color by Word pages review the words, and the cover is a black-and-white penguin to colour. Books 2, 3 and 4 follow the same pattern with ten new words each.
