On each page students trace a row of six family words, such as log, hog, dog, jog, fog, frog, and then a sentence that puts them to work: "A dog is on a log.", "The frog sees the dog on a log.", or "A tot was not in a cot." Open handwriting lines fill the rest of the page. The sentence and picture change on every page while the word row stays the same within a family, which gives plenty of repetition without feeling like the same sheet three times.
