This 21-page set of short a handwriting pages gives Grade 1 and ESL/EFL students traced word and sentence practice for seven word families: -ab, -ad, -an, -at, -ag, -am, and -ap. Each family has three "Writing Time" pages. At the top, students trace the six family words (cab, grab, drab, tab, lab, crab), then a short sentence built mostly from those words, such as "The drab crab will grab a fab cab." or "The ram can see yams." The rest of the page is open handwriting lines for copying the words and sentence or writing their own. The word row repeats across a family's three pages, but each page has a new sentence and picture, so children meet the same words in three different contexts.
