This 22-page JLPT N5 reading practice pack gives beginner Japanese learners 60 short passages, each with one multiple-choice question and four answer choices. Most passages are one or two sentences in the past tense about a day out or a weekend: cherry-blossom viewing in the park, buying new shoes, cooking curry rice, going to the aquarium or a karaoke box. Many questions simply ask 何をしましたか ("What did they do?"), which keeps the focus on reading the verb and the place correctly. The final two pages are a vocabulary list ("New and Unique Words") with kanji, hiragana and English, covering words like 料理教室 (cooking class), 図書館 (library) and 洋服 (clothing).
