Each page is organised by word family, three or four families per page (for example -ab, -ad, -ag, and -am on the first short a page). For every word, the three letters sit in separate boxes joined by arrows, so students say each sound, blend them, and write the whole word on the line beside a small picture: c-a-b, m-a-d, h-e-n, p-i-g, f-o-x, b-u-g.
